Android N Developer Preview now available on selected Xperia™ devices

Sony have been working with Google to ensure you can get ready for Android N using Android N Developer Preview with selected Xperia Z3 devices, and you can provide your feedback on the software. Find out about behavior changes and how to get started.
Android N is Google’s next software version, and they’re preparing early for its release by making Android N Developer Preview available now. That way, they have more time to incorporate developer feedback before the release.

For developers using selected Xperia devices, you are able to flash Android N Developer Preview on 2 variants of Xperia Z3 – versions D6603 and D6653.



  • Multi-window support – This new multi-tasking feature lets users open up two apps on the screen at once.
  • Bundled notifications – You can group messages together, for example, by message topic.  Users can then take actions in one place.
  • Direct reply notifications – Users can respond quickly to notifications directly within the notification interface.
  • Efficiency – Google has improved Doze to save even more power in Android N. There are also new behaviors in Project Svelte, aiming to reduce the memory needs of Android.

Head over to  Sony  Android N Developer Preview page where you can get instructions on how to flash your compatible Xperia Z3 device. You’ll also find out how to return to the latest Android software once you have finished testing.
It’s useful to note that the Android N Developer Preview software is intended for developers and not for usage as primary software.
